Biography of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand was born in Cambridge,  Massachusetts,  U.S.A.,
on Monday the 5th December 1927, being the third and youngest child of Their Royal Highness
Price and Pricess Mahidol of Songkhla.

Even the facts of his birth seem to be significant in several ways. He is, first of all, the direct grand
son  of  His Late Majesty King Chulalongkorn  or Rama V who was renowned for the great reforms
which  he  made  to  all institutions of Thailand to bring them up to date and in line with rest of the
Western - Orientated world.

He was given the significant name of Bhumibol Adulyadej, meaning  Strength  of  the  Land
Incomparable Power  which  become  prophetic  as his Reign advances through various critical
periods  and the Thai  nation  evolves  more  and more around the  Throne as the sole sources of
unity and strength.

H.M.K. Bhumibol Adulyadej's speech

"Whether  jazz  or  otherwise,  music  is  a  part  of  me.   It  is  a  part of everyone, an
essential part of us all.   To me,  music  is  something  fine  and  beautiful.  I  think  we
should all recognise the value of music in all its forms,  since  all  types of music have
their place and time, and respond to different kinds of emotions."

Saeng Tien

Music  :  H.M.K. Bhumibol Adulyadej
Lyric   :  Chakkaphan - Phensiri

Candlelight Blues
Music  :  H.M.K. Bhumibol Adulyadej
Lyric   :  Assoc. Prof. Sodsai Pantoomkomol

The candellight is shining low,
My only love, I'm missing you so.
I know I've lost
But still I dream of you.

I'll hope and dream
Till all my dreams come true.
Just by the candlelight
You used to hold me tight.

This candlelight reminds me so of you.
Bycandlelight you kissed me.
Still the candle's burning for two.
But darling, where can you be

Come back, my love
If you're feeling this blue
By candlelight you'll meet me.
But darling where can you be

Thailand on Sunday  marked  the 83rd birthday of  King  Bhumibol  Adulyadej the world's longest-
reigning  monarch,  but  elaborate  celebrations  could  not  mask  concern over his health and the
future of the royal institution.

In his annual birthday speec,  the king  sounded  what  has become a routine, geneal call for unity
and hard work to keep the country happy and prosperous.

Speaking  briefly  in  a  slow  and  rasping voice to dignitaries at the Grand Palace, the
king  urged  people  to  be  clear  about  their  duties,  and  carry  them out to the best
of their ability.

Massive ceremonies  were held later  in the day,  as on  past  occasions honoring the king.    They
included a candle-lighting show of  devotion  led  by  the prime minister, fireworks,  the release of
thousands of small hot-air balloons,  and  a  nighttime boat procession on Bangkok's Chao Phraya
river.
